About the Art

In 2017 whilst spending time in the Tankwa National Park, not far from Loxton and Afrikaburn I was blessed to see the elusive Riverine Rabbit. It inspired me to create something lasting that will bring the conversation about this species’ endangered status to the forefront.

We will be creating a 20m x 4m x 2m artwork which will be erected first at AfrikaBurn 2020 after which it will be dismantled and make its way to Loxton, its permanent home where it will live alongside the Riverine Rabbit Thinking Path, a Site_Specific geoglyph.

The artwork itself is a large wood and metal landscape sculpture that weaves itself around the myth of the elusive riverine rabbit. Its intention is to provide a space for meditative contemplation and sheltered dreaming but also facilitate story telling whilst highlighting the plight of this critically endangered species.

Visitors will be able to interact with the artwork in many ways; each element contributing to he narrative.
